How many of us have experienced the crushing blow of putting your all into something only to see limited results?
Maybe its dieting…spending weeks eating healthy and skipping your favorite treats only to see the scale remain the same. What about being frugal and saving extra money only to have to replace something on a car that depletes our efforts to zero. What about serving at church Sunday after sunday and getting not as much as a nod of recognition for it. Maybe you spent months working and researching and putting extra effort into a project at work only to be passed over for the lead position you wanted. It can be so discouraging. It can make anyone feel like just giving up and not trying any longer.
This happens to the disciples as they fished all night and caught absolutely nothing. Jesus showed up and in the most discouraging time told them to go back out and do it again. Boy that can really make a person angry. It can you make you feel super frustrated. You have done things like this for so long you feel like you did your best and now Jesus is asking you to give more. We trust our own feelings and we think we know best but do we?
The bible tells us to TRUST and OBey….
When he had finished speaking, he said to Simon, “Put out into deep water, and let down the nets for a catch.” Simon answered, “Master, we’ve worked hard all night and haven’t caught anything. But because you say so, I will let down the nets.” When they had done so, they caught such a large number of fish that their nets began to break.
When we DO IT ANYWAY despite our feelings. God is free to do the miraculous. He is free to do what he does best. But if we turn away and stubbornly refuse because we are hurt or frustrated we WILL miss out on God’s best for us. DO IT ANYWAY!
You never know when your blessing will come it could be one more dip of the net away.
Have an amazing day.
